Security Guard Requirements in Alberta
If you wish to work as a security guard in Alberta, you must be licensed by Alberta Justice and Solicitor General. This license is required if you are paid to patrol, guard or provide security, or detect loss of or damage to the property of another person.
Becoming A Security Guard in Alberta
In order to work as a security guard or security professional in Alberta you must possess a valid security license. Security services workers, including security guards, loss prevention workers, executive protection, patrol dog handlers and security alarm responders, must be licensed under the Security Services and Investigators Act (SSIA).
